Overview

Provides guidance which amplifies the principles expressed in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH). The guidance is divided into three parts: (1) Background information about the hazards and risks of working with animals; (2) Appropriate measures to be taken when working at different contamination levels and provides guidance on certain operating procedures; (3) Guidance on the contamination and disposal of waste associated with animals. Contents: Control measures - containment and operating procedures; Decontamination and disposal of waste; Legislation and local rules; Information, instruction and training; Emergency procedures; Genetic modification; Containment of invertibrates.
