Full Description
The concentration of mercury in urine reflects cumulative exposure over the previous 2-4 months.
Urinary mercury estimations may be used for workers with reasonably constant medium to long-term exposure. Blood mercury estimations should be used to monitor workers who have had acute exposures such as those following accidental spillages.
There is an HSE Biological Monitoring Guidance Value of 20 µmol/mol creatinine in 'random' urine samples (no need to collect the sample at a specific time in the shift).
Turnaround time is 20 working days.
